Ride the Roof of the World

A Playground of Peaks and Icefields
From the sweeping slopes of the Eastern Alaska Range to the technical spines of unnamed ridgelines, Golden Eagle Outfitters gives you direct access to mountains few have ever skied. Our flights drop you deep into alpine basins and glacier-carved terrain where the only tracks you’ll see are your own.
With terrain suitable for intermediate ski tourers to expert-level ski mountaineers, we tailor every drop to your crew’s experience and objective.

Fly-In, Drop-In, and Go Big
We use specialized ski-equipped bush planes to get you exactly where you need to be—on remote glaciers, windswept cols, or sheltered alpine bowls. Whether you’re planning a single-day drop or a multi-day basecamp mission, our pilots are experienced in glacier landings and steep terrain operations.
Fly in. Set up camp. Spend days exploring untouched terrain few humans have ever seen, much less skied.

Ski Season: October Through May
Yes, you read that right.
Thanks to Alaska’s extreme latitude and massive glaciated terrain, you can backcountry ski here for over half the year. Here’s a rough guide:
October-January: Cold, dry powder. Crisp conditions and shorter days.
February-March: Longer daylight, stable snowpack, perfect for ski mountaineering and steeper lines.
April-May: High glacier skiing under the midnight sun. A surreal, bucket-list experience.

Basecamps in the Sky
Want to extend your stay? We offer multi-day and expedition-style trips where you set up basecamp right on the glacier. Spend your days exploring new lines, summiting nearby peaks, or lapping powdery chutes.
Your trip can be fully self-supported or assisted—bring your own guide or work with ours. Either way, we’ll fly you in, make sure you’re set up safely, and stay on-call for pickup.
Wilderness Solitude, Epic Wildlife
As you tour the high country, don’t be surprised to spot distant wildlife far below—caribou winding through the valleys, Dall sheep on the cliffs, or even the occasional bear stirring from its den. This is true backcountry skiing—remote, silent, powerful.
And when the sun doesn’t set until midnight, you’ll have time for one more run. Always.
